Greenwich woman dies in car crash after hitting stone wall and tree

Greenwich Police said Lake Avenue was closed between Round Hill Road and Grahampton Lane in Greenwich, Connecticut on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, after an accident.

GREENWICH – A 52-year-old woman from Greenwich was killed in a crash Tuesday night on Lake Avenue, police said.

The woman was driving a 2013 Chevy Suburban north on Lake Avenue between Round Hill Rand Parsonage roads when she pulled off the pavement and hit a stone wall and tree at around 9.45 p.m., Police Lt. John Slusarz said Wednesday morning.

The driver, whose identity was withheld pending notification from the next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene, Slusarz said.

A section of Lake Avenue was closed between Round Hill Road and Grahampton Lane for several hours on Tuesday evening after the fatal crash, Slusarz said.


The causeway was closed as police investigated the crash.
