Man injured after seaplane truck crashes into stone wall in Jay


JAY – A local man was taken to hospital on Monday after the truck he was driving hydroplaned on National Road 133 / Franklin Road, made two turns and got off the road and s ‘is found in a ditch.

The truck, driven by Jose Avelar, 39, believed to be from Jay, was halfway up a stone wall and came to a stop about 20 to 30 meters down the road, the police officer said. Jay, Dan Demers.

Avelar complained of neck injuries and was transported by the NorthStar EMS ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, Demers said.

Two of the truck’s tires burst and the driver’s side front corner sustained minor damage.

Avelar told police he had just moved to the city. The truck is registered in the name of Edwin Martin of North Dakota, Demers said. It was towed from the scene.

Demers was assisted by Constable Cody York and Jay’s Fire Department, who provided traffic control.
