Multan plans to build a stone wall from Delhi Gate to Pak Gate
The divisional administration of the city of Multan decided on Tuesday to restore the faseel (stone wall) of Dehli Gate at Pak Gate which is approximately one kilometer long as part of the restoration of its centuries-old historical identity.
MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – February 23, 2021): The Multan City Divisional Administration has decided to restore the faseel (stone wall) from the Delhi Gate to the Pak Gate which is approximately one kilometer long as part of the restoration of its centuries-old historical identity on Tuesday.
Following this, Commissioner Javed Akhtar Mahmood paid a visit with Punjabi Parliamentary Secretary Nadeem Qureshi to the inner part of town to observe the situation on the ground before launching the proposed development here.
A large type of family gazebo and food court would be built along the stone wall to give it a unique look, it was said.
Nadeem Qureshi has said on occasion that the path of development has unfortunately taken them away from the protection and preservation of the city’s culture and heritage.
In a statement, he pledged to convert the faseel into a memorable recreation venue also with a public-private partnership joint venture.
He said the current stone wall, nearly a kilometer long, existed in actual condition and was attached to the six city gates.
Multan is one of the oldest cities in the world, for the sake of protecting the ancient heritage.
The divisional administration and political leaders were proud to come together on one page with the sole aim of preserving the city’s heritage, Qureshi said.
Javed Akhtar Mahmood ordered an operation against the encroachment spreading around the proposed location of the stone wall. He called an urgent meeting of the Metropolitan Corporation, the Waste Management Company, and the Parks and Horticultural Authority to devise a modus operandi to launch the action plan on the job.
The city’s history is full of battles and great historical fictions, the commissioner added in the statement.
He said the ancient city gates turned out to be the preservers of the ancient civilization, with the faseel infection emerging as the “city identity” restored to its original form and form. .
