The first pink displays to benefit Cancer Research UK began to dress the windows of Littleborough, Milnrow and Newhey.

Milnrow ‘Pink’ Hey and Little ‘Pink’ Borough campaigns see windows across the Pennines putting up their best pink displays throughout October, Cancer Awareness Month, to raise money for Cancer Research UK .

All shops and businesses were invited to get involved by creating a pink showcase and providing a charity box and poster (provided by the organizers) – and they were joined by nurseries, childminders and the majority of primary schools of the three zones, which will have a “pink day” for the cause.

Suzanne Gumbley, one of the organizers, said: “The response has been truly amazing and shows great community spirit in all three areas.

“Thank you to everyone who participates.

“We would now like to see more houses displaying pink in their windows, doors or gardens. “

Sarah Preston, Cancer Research, said: “It is wonderful to see such a community spirit in the villages and such fantastic support for the association; we really appreciate that. “

Little ‘Pink’ Borough is organized by Kath and Andy O’Donnell, the Three Amigos fundraising group.

Milnrow ‘Pink’ Hey is hosted by Tracey Jacobs, of Tracey’s All Things Scents; Brian and Suzanne Gumbley, from Brian Gumbley Accountancy Services.

Milnrow ‘Pink’ Hey is in its first year sponsored by Brian Gumbley Letting Services Ltd, and Little ‘Pink’ Borough is in its sixth year sponsored by Graffic Detail.

Littleborough Windows will be judged by Councilors Janet Emsley and Tom Besford and former Councilor Ann Stott on Saturday, October 16 starting at 11 a.m. from Dearnley. Littleborough and District Lions will be conducting a street drive in the city at the end of October.

The Milnrow and Newhey storefronts will be judged on Friday the 22nd from 10:30 am, from Maggie J’s baby store in Milnrow. The judges are local councilors Dave Bamford, Irene Davidson and Andrew Kelly.

A prize is offered for the best showcase.
